When a Girl Is Born This Indian Village Piplantri Plants 111 Trees

Piplantri village in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, India is an ambassador of eco-feminism, according to Earth Day Network-India (EDN).

Earth Day Network-India launched the Earth Day Network Star Village initiative and Piplantri was recognized the first Star Village. The villages plant 111 trees whenever a girl is born.

Earth Day Network is making an effort to improve the environment by planting trees across the globe. The Canopy Project was started in 2010 and since then tens of millions of trees had been planted. Citizens are going through tree care training which empowers them to restore their lands.

This program achieved long-term economic and environmental success as trees provide food, energy and income to the communities. It also favorably impacts climate change as in one year a mature tree produces as much oxygen as 10 people inhale.

Earth Day Network has set a goal to plant 7.8 billion trees in 2020 – one for every person on earth. Anyone can join the movement Trees for the Earth Campaign.
