NASA Brings Good News: the World Is Greener Today Than 20 Years Ago

China and India are responsible not only for overexploit of the land but also for the largest greening of the planet. Both countries have implemented tree planting programs.

800,000 Indians are planting 50 million trees in only 24 hours.

NASA used Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) to compare data from the mid-1990s to today. Due to farming and agriculture, both countries went through large deforestation in the 1970s and 80s. But in 90s China and India made encouraging shifts in order to combat climate change and air and soil pollution.

This effort should be praised.
